crazy or brilliant?
id like to meet the guy that thought soloing the UW was possible. whoever it is is either insane or brilliant. it is the hardest place in the game and yet some guy or grl thought o if i lower my health and put on prot spirit ill take next to no dmg. WTF! eveyrone else was getting sup vigor runes to pump UP there health. not take it down to 55. and then to have the guts to try it. i mean come on it was against all things taht we used to think. more healht not less but no this person comes in and p3wns teh UW w/ 55 health. was it some insane person who thought hey just to be stupid lets do this? or some brilliant outside the box thinker who spent hours pondering the situation?(nerd) i personally think it was a crazy guy. cause come on who would spend that much time thinking a/b how to solo the UW? so i say crazy what a/b the rest of u?

I'd go with the person who thought outside the box and was rich to start with.
A suprising amount of people that play actually think outside the box, as seen clearly by the strategic planning that goes into pvp. I dunno, personally, I just wanna play, sitting there for 30 mins or so sorting out each others skill bars in what you hope will let you win against the other team... takes more dedication than I have.
But wasn't it nice of that person to share his/her knoweldge with the rest of us?

I think it happens more as an evolution. You start out with one skill you like, then run into another skill that fits well with it, then another and another until you have a complete build.

really its just math. pro bond basicly makes any dmg any number you want by manipulating your life total. hp regen to compensate for the dmg/sec you take.
it really spawned off a topic "less is more." it didn't have a complete build but gave the concept of the life total. at that time i had pro spirit so i used it instead of bond. i found many different ways doing it. mo/mes with zealots and channeling was one of my favs.
then someone posted the mo/w build. the rest is history.

players were solo'ing UW for around a month before "the build" eventually leaked out
and really... it doesn't take much to look at Prot Bond and see that "low HP = good"

The Low Health/Prot Spirit combo has been around for a while, and even if UW gets boosted to counter it, there are still many places you can farm with it. Just scout for a mob of monsters without enchantment removal+mass degen. Someone was just smart enough to notice an area of the underworld without enchants. Boom

Hmm ... I think perhaps he's made the mistake of telling one or two people "Yeah, I came up with that idea" ... to which, assuredly the response was:
"ZOMG no j00 didn't, that was me! n00b!"
... *sigh* poor guy
EDIT: my vote is for crazy, btw

You can only solo a small part of UW, it's not an "ultimate" build, however it was a really good idea. I remember I used it (with some skill tweaking) to invent the Copperhammer to Granite Citadel runs with my 105 monk (using protective bond), and yes I was the first to start that trend(like it really matters).

My vote goes to someone who thought outside the box.
Off Topic: a great counter to monks would be a new monster, level 20ish, not 18. It would have a double vampiric touch just like SF's double orison. Since it goes through protective spirit and drains a good 65ish health at 16 blood.

Actually, it was the 105 build originally. But someone got ahold of that -50 focus item and put two and two together. Whether it was the same person is beyond my knowledge but yeah.
I want to find a -95 health item because a 10HP monk is completely invincible with mending and protective spirit up.

I'll bet I know exactly how it came about.
There's a Regular Protection monk on a mission, but his group isn't doing too good, they've taken a lot of Death Penalties. He's brought Protective Spirit or Bond with him, and he notices that the higher the death penalties get the more effective Protective Spirit/Bond gets. In fact it's laughably easy to keep his high DP team mates alive useing Protective Spirit/Bond. He starts thinking about it for a bit, puts 2 + 2 together.
Bam.
105 Monk is born.

10 hits of more than 1 dmg at the same time kill you. regardless of regen. lucky for invicimonks, mobs don't sync attacks. this is the reason 55 monks can tank more than 10 creatures at once. every hit is staggered, allowing the regen to take effect on health. if 10 smites hit you at the same time you die. end of story.
also the best health would be 19 since prot spirit dmg is rounded down to 1 dmg per hit. allowing you to survive 19 hits before death.

Mmm... whoever came up with the solo build shoulda stocked up on sup monk runes back when they were cheap, he'd make more off of selling them when they spiked up rather than farming his heart out.
I first heard of it in a form of a WARRIOR lowering his health and using prot spirit >.< crazy people... that was back in june, though.

Can anyone describe this build to me? Or tell me what to search for?
